Happy Thanksgiving! Yesterday I pulled in to my parents driveway excited to begin celebrating with friends and family, only to realize that I had left a bag containing my computer and all my toiletries on top of my car. Effffffffff. It would’ve been sooooo easy to cry or be upset, but instead I took a couple of deep breaths and went on with my day. Sometimes shitty stuff happens to us, but in that moment we get to make a choice. We can wallow or we can move on. We can let it effect our whole mood and the people around us or we can realize that in three weeks or three months or three years this will not matter one bit. What will matter is that time we got to spend with our friends, family, and even the strangers and the interactions we have with them. So next time you are dealing with a bad day remember you’re not what happens to you, you can choose your own mood, and your bad day can ruin everyone else’s day too. So as you focus on what you’re thankful for maybe write it down, and hang it somewhere you see it or screenshot it so you can pull it out when you think of it. Today I’m thankful for health, I’m thankful that I am able to spend time with family this holiday, I’m thankful for the friends that are constantly filling my life, I’m thankful for the education I’ve received and the growth I’ve experienced in the last few years and many other things (like dogs) and when you compare those things to a bag of stuff it really doesn’t feel like anything important is laying on the road somewhere and I still have all I need…….Also I’d be lying if I didn’t say the cold beer I drank immediately after did help a little.
Oh my!!! You’re the best. Should we crowd fund you a new laptop??
